PROTECTIVE SEALANTS
A dental sealant creates a protective barrier to prevent decay. Sealants keep food particles and bacteria from settling into the nooks and crannies of your teeth. Because back molars in particular tend to have grooves that are difficult to clean, sealants can safeguard them from cavities.
Whether you’re a child who has never had a cavity or an adult who is concerned about cavities, Salt Creek dentists can help you determine if you’re a good candidate for sealants.
Sealants are applied by first cleaning the tooth surface. We then apply a coating that will harden to create a strong protective coat over your tooth. After the sealant is applied, a warm light source is directed to the site to promote faster curing. Sealants are very durable and last five to 10 years and can then be reapplied.
